Random Update

Clay's shadow...

Still can't believe I got this on camera
Well I have to take Clay to an audiologist now. He hasn't passed the newborn/infant screening that he's had 4 times now. It's not a big deal. He's just too noisey everytime we go to the hospital for the test. And he doesn't have any red flags. I'm just sick of taking him in for this. Elizabeth has been exploring as much as she can. As you can see she likes to climb into weird places. Yes she did climb into her toy box herself from the left side and I had to open it on the right side so she could get out. She's all about hugs and kisses again. It's fun that she's so loving. She LOVES Clay and if he's in his little floor bassinett she's right there too. Keeps me on my toes since she likes to try and give him his pacifier or try to hold him. She can say his name pretty good now though (Clay). I don't think any of us actually call him Clayton yet. He's finally growing out of the newborn cloths. I'm so excited to have more variety in what he wears without it being huge on him. Elizabeth has picked up some new words too but the only one I can remember is "toy". She's started to shake her head "no" now too. She's getting really good with colors too and doesn't need to be asked what green is anymore.
Elizabeth is starting to try to eat with a fork now. She gets what to do but she also thinks it's just as easy to get the food on the fork and then take it off to put it in her mouth. She has also started to pretend to eat. Last night in the bath she was pretending to pick up stuff in the water and eat it. We also bought her some books for church with some money she got for Christmas. So we got her a quiet book and two other books and that has made church much less stressful. It's nice that James can go more often now too, I'm not looking forward to the first time I have to take both kids alone....hopefully she'll be in nursery by then. I only have 6 weeks until I can take her to nursery.
James and I also got our present that we bought with some money his parents gave us for Christmas. We're both so into movies we bought a big media cabinet. Well it's sitting in our front room half finished and has been for a week! I was half way done putting it together and discovered that one of the pieces had the holes drilled into the side that has the wood finish on it rather than the unfinished side....talk about annoying. So I still have a week before the replacement piece will get here, and that's if it gets here on time. Hopefully it does.

My Little Helper

Elizabeth is so funny! She is my "little mommy". From some of the pictures I've already posted you can tell she just loves to be around Clay. Well she also likes to push him in the swing, even though it swings itself. She tries to pick him up out of the basket basinett we have, and she'll go and give him his pacifier. It's just adorable, I wish I could get more pictures of her doing this stuff. She's also all about getting into our pantry now. She loves to take things out of boxes and bags and put them back again. She played with a microwave popcorn box for over 30 minutes the other day. Elizabeth is also doing great with talking and sign language. The other day we all went to the Olive Garden for a treat and she started signing leaf out of the blue. She does that a lot and then James and I have to figure out what she's saying. Elizabeth is also saying and recognizing colors already. She knows red, blue, green, yellow and pink. I'm so proud of her that she knows colors already. This morning when we were getting her dressed I held up her dress and said, "see it's pretty" and she looks at me and says "pink". She was right too!
Yesterday we had to take Clayton into the WIC office to get him put on our account and he was weighed and measured while we were there. He's 8 lbs 12 oz and just under 20 inches long. So he's only gained a pound more than his birthweight. So he's still in newborn cloths and will probably be in them for another week at least. I tried to put a normal outfit on him Sunday for church and they were just way too big for him. As soon as he starts eating more than 2 to 3 oz every 3 hours he'll get some weight on.

Already a month old

This is what he does when he's hungry...at least he's quiet the rest of the time

She's so silly

My little monkey

All wiped out

Trying to feed Clay

Wow it's already been a month since we added Clay to the family. I was spoiled with Elizabeth. Clay is still only eating 2 or 3 oz at a time so he eats pretty frequently and so he wakes up still at night. Elizabeth slept throught the night by this point. He's a very quiet baby still. He's only fussy when he's hungry. He likes to grunt a lot though.
Elizabeth is doing good with him. She's finally grasped the concept that he's the baby from my tummy. So now she calls him Clay and she doesn't try to kiss my tummy or see it anymore. Elizabeth has been doing some very funny things lately too. In the picture where I said she's a monkey, well she is in a small space that is cornered off by our couch and love seat. I guess the other day when I was at Walmart she climbed into that little space to get to a toy that we put over there. Funny thing is that we call her monkey sometimes, now the nickname fits.
She also is getting to be very maternal with Clay. In the picture where she's holding the stuffed bottle she's actually trying to feed the bottle to Clay. At least she's not trying to hurt him.
I'm very excited for tomorrow. We start a new time for our church meetings tomorrow. When we moved into these apartments we had church at 1 and then this whole year we've had it from 1:30 to 4:30pm...yuck. That time didn't work that well especially with Elizabeth. So now we get to go from 9am to 12 noon. So nice. So tomorrow James gets to go too and we're going to talk to the bishop because we want to bless Clayton on February 3rd. So hopefully nothing will conflict with that happening on that day.
