Balloons, Toys, and Doctor Visits

Mom brought home some balloons for Elizabeth on her birthday. Elizabeth loved them and ran around the house with them laughing.

And here she is with James trying out the Play-Doh she got for her birthday. She thinks that stuff is pretty cool. Except we keep calling it clay out of habit and when we do she gets confused.

And I showed her what her tea set is for (minus the actual water). So now she goes around with the cup pretending to drink and making sipping noises.

We also took the kids in for check-ups the day after Elizabeth's birthday. I made the appointment before we moved to make sure we could get them in when they needed to be. They are both doing great and healthy. Poor Elizabeth had to get a shot, but didn't cry! I was very proud of her when all that came out of her mouth was a little wimper. I don't know Elizabeth's measurements for sure because they wrote them down wrong. But she is long and skinny. In fact all her pants fall off because she's too skinny for them, but all her cloths that are smaller than 2T are too short for her. Here are Clay's stats:

Height: 26 7/8 inches
Weight: 17 lbs 9 oz

He is still on the small side even though the height makes it seem like he's not. He's actually still in 3 to 6 months cloths and he's 9 1/2 months now. So I've been scrambling to try to find him some cloths that will work for winter that will actually fit him. But at least I'm getting good use out of his cloths and he's not only in them for a little while.

Thankful Thursday

Well Lizzi decided that 6 am would be a good wake up time today. And trying to be the nice wife I tried to give James some sleep in time. So since I have a little extra time on my hands I thought I would do this again. So this week I am thankful for...

1. My parents.

I'm very grateful they are letting us live with them right now. It's been a fun 3 weeks so far having them around the kids. The kids of course love them and I can tell they enjoy the kids too. Although I'm sure some days they feel like pulling there hair out from all the noise and nonstop energy the kids both produce. Thanks Mom and Dad, we love ya.

2. Good friends.
I've been blessed to have many very true and loyal friends in my life. And although I've left some behind in the move and won't see them as often I am still very glad to have them.

3. Cable

It's stupid I know, but for going so long without cable it's nice to have a choice in what you can watch, rather than what your bunny ears can pick up.

4. Colder Weather

I'm sorry but I HATE summer...that simple.

5. James

He lets me sleep in all the time, he helps out a lot with the kids, and he'll go grocery shopping with me. Talk about hitting the jackpot!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Wow! I can't believe Elizabeth is 2. The time is flying by. We celebrated Elizabeth's birthday on Sept 14 because James was working on her birthday. Elizabeth loved it! She caught onto the presents concept quickly. She would unwrap a present, check it out, give it to someone and then say, "More present."

A new book from Grandma and Grandpa, she loves to read!

Plates! She likes having special plates to eat on.

The boots! I always find something irresistible at Old Navy. And as soon as these came out she had to put them on and model them for everyone. And then of course they didn't come off until she was eating cake.



A potty! My friend, Tiffany, came to celebrate with us and got Elizabeth a potty (at my request). It makes noises, and music and of course Elizabeth loves it. She now likes to sit on it all the time. She even tells me when she wants her diaper off for it, but she hasn't actually used it yet.


Tea anyone? I found this old school tea set that I remember having as a kid. The cups change color with different temperatured water. I saw it in Toys R Us in March and knew I wanted to get it for Elizabeth. Luckily the store got more in right before we moved.


New earrings too. Tiffany also bought Elizabeth some adorable heart earrings with screw on backs. Elizabeth loved them. She likes to accessorize already.


Elizabeth got so many nice things. The car seat, a new outfit, a table and chairs, Play-doh, and a foam puzzle (I think that's everything).

Grandpa entertained Clayton while we did presents.

Elizabeth loves coloring so I made her a box of crayons cake. I was extremely happy how this cake turned out. And was very disappointed when we had to cut into it. Especially after 2 hours of decorating it.

Somehow James and I managed to have a child who loves attention. She laughed and smiled when we sang to her.

Blowing is still a concept we are working on. Elizabeth laughed the candle out. She thought it was all so funny that she laughed so hard it blew the candle out. And of course after that she said, "Again." And she still laughed it out the 2nd time as well.

The Big Move!

First I have to start off with random pictures of Clay. He was so tired this day, but he was hungry too. Once he had his fill he just went to sleep. It was the funniest and cutest thing ever!

And here is part of our apartment all boxed up.


The day of the move was trying on the kids. Clay decided to take a nap. But poor Elizabeth had the hardest time. She definitely didn't understand what we were doing. She enjoyed riding the dolly back to the apartment after a load though. It was adorable, but pictures were not my priority that morning. We were told that people from the ward had volunteered to come help us load up, but in the end no one did which really didn't sit well with me. Luckily Craig and Brett (2 of James' uncles) were nice enough to come by and help (THANK YOU). And the truck was loaded in about 2 1/2 hours. Elizabeth threw fit after fit as we started to take her things out. And even pushed James when we were moving her dresser to the main room and said, "NO!". Funny but understandable. I even teared up while we were leaving. As happy as I was to leave it's where I brought both my children home to. So it was a sentimental moment.

The drive wasn't that bad either. James went right on his way while I ran a few last minute errands. And then it took me an hour to catch up to him. But we made the trip in a little under 4 hours which was awesome. And yeah! People from my parents ward did show up to help us. We unloaded stuff that was going in the house and left the stuff that was going to storage and it was seriously done in about 30 minutes with 7 guys doing the work.

Clay crashed on the floor while we were cleaning and Elizabeth's motherly side came out and she sacrificed her blanket to cover him up.

We are still getting settled after almost 2 weeks of being here! It's been an adjustment for all of us. I miss the shopping! I just wish there was a Dollar Tree here, then I would be happy. But it's obvious the kids are enjoying being around Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma and Grandpa are enjoying it too, even with the noise.

Recent Zoo Outing

Some of James' family came out to Utah and we were able to go to the zoo with them. It was a fun little outing and the kids certainly enjoy themselves. We got to go on the little train ride they had and of course the kids thought it was fun.

Clay did have fun, he just doesn't look like he did...

See, now he's interested!


The little white monkey was born on August 11th. So the baby was only 12 days old. It was cute to see the new monkey, and how the other monkeys hoovered around it.
