ABC's

Well since Monday was one of James' days off this week and were driving back to Utah, that left Thursday for all our errands. We left around 10 and grabbed a bite to eat and were out until 4pm running around doing errands. Well then I had to go back out and do some grocery shopping and get all the way to Walmart and start shopping and find that I've forgotten my wallet because Elizabeth was playing with it. So I had to go home to get it. Well Clayton was hungry so I fed him too. After a little discussion James decides Elizabeth and him will go with me this time because we're going to just go out for dinner. This way dinner wouldn't be too late. Well once we finally got back to Walmart we decided to look at the toys just because. I saw the magnetic ABC's and they were only 4 bucks. So since Elizabeth was so good we decided to buy them for her. I'm so lucky to have well behaved kids at there ages so it's easy to reward Elizabeth for being a good girl.
She loves them and I think it's cool she likes a lot of the old fashion toys that I remember having and playing with. So now she spend more time in my kitchen, but at least she isn't getting into things she's not allowed to anymore.

Elizabeth's 1st Haircut

The night before

So for a little while I have seriously been contemplating getting Elizabeth's hair cut. She won't hold still long enough for me to pull it up and when I do she just pulls it out. So I caved and Saturday in Elko we got her an appointment and got her hair trimmed. Now her hair isn't in her face and it's still long. The appointment was right around her nap time so she kept signing that she was sleepy. So she cried. I don't think she would have cried much if she wasn't sleepy. Luckily Allison came with me and mom, so she was entertaining Elizabeth while I held her.

Elko Trip

I didn't get many pictures on our trip, but I did get some funny ones. We got to Elko early Friday evening. So Elizabeth had a little alone time with Grandma and Grandpa before Kristine, Derek, their kids, and Jason arrived. Luckily we also got her to bed before they were got to Elko too. I am very lucky with Elizabeth because when she's tired she'll go to bed very easily. Anyways, when we were playing we found the beautiful headgear she's wearing in the picture. She wore that thing for almost a good hour. It was so funny, and Grandma gave it to Elizabeth so she'll find it here and put it back on.
Anyways it was nice to see family and for Kris and her family to meet Clayton while he is still small. We were so glad we were able to go and support Allison. Allison was baptized and rather than have both Kristine and Derek's families have to travel to Vegas they came to Elko to do it. Elizabeth did great with the kids. Ava (Kristine's youngest and a little over a year older than Elizabeth) isn't used to having another toddler around so sharing was a bit of an issue. Elizabeth did pretty good though with having some toys taken away from her and being pushed. But eventually on Sunday night she resorted to biting and got Ava good once and tried 2 more times again. She hasn't done it since though, so I think she just didn't know what to do anymore and figured that was a good option. Clayton was a big hit (but babies always are). He did well with being passed around a lot.

Valentine's Day

We didn't do much for Valentines this year. James had to work that day so I got my gifts the night before. James got me 3 pink roses, an expansion pack for my Sims 2 computer game, Ghost Rider dvd, a beautiful card and a saphire and diamond pendant and chain. I was so excited. Last year around this time he bought me a saphire and diamond ring and he told me he wants to get me a matching bracelet and earings eventually. I can't complain about that idea. We bought the kids some Dr. Sues books because they had some nice hardback copies at Kohl's for $5 each. Which is an amazing price for those. And Elizabeth loves books so much. I bought James a movie and some shoes (he got those in January because he desperately needed them). But we got all our gifts early.
For Valentines day I had a doctors appointment so it wasn't too eventful and the rest of the day I was cleaning and doing laundry to get ready for our weekend trip. It was still a nice day, hopefully next year I'll get to go all out since Elizabeth will start to understand more stuff like that.

Girly Girl

Giving Clay loves

Well Elizabeth is definately growing up. We let her pick out her outfits now. We'll give her 2 choices of what she can wear and if a dress is involved she always picks the dress. She's a girly girl. It's so funny to watch her choose too because she'll sit there for a minute and you can tell she's thinking. She loves to help with Clay more and more. She likes to hold him a lot now. She does pretty good too. She also loves to sit by him while he's doing tummy time. I was worried that she would be all over him while he did his tummy time, but she usually does pretty good. The only problem I've had is that she'll bring her doll over and lay it on top of him. I'm just glad she's trying to share.
I can't remember if I posted this so if it's a repeat sorry. But Elizabeth likes to give Clay kisses and we'd always tell her that she was so sweet when she did it. Well now whenever she kisses Clay she'll saw "sweet" right after it. The funny thing is that she's started to kiss anything and then she'll say sweet right after. She kisses the fridge, the floor, the couch, the tv remote, anything she'll kiss.
Clay is starting to only wake up once a night now. It's a massive improvement, but I still wish he would sleep all night. If I went to bed earlier though it would probably be better, but I need quiet time at night once both kids are asleep.
Clay is going to be going on his first trip this weekend to Elko. Hopefully he'll do good with it. I'm hoping he'll be mellow in the car just like Elizabeth. Especially since we're planning on driving out to Tahoe for one of our week vacations in June. I'm sure Elizabeth will enjoy the trip too since she'll get to see more of her cousins.

Visitors

We found out last Wednesday that James' parents, sister and her family were going to come out and visit us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We were all very excited since they weren't able to come out to the blessing because of the ridiculous amounts of snow we got. Elizabeth loved having her cousins around to play with. She doesn't see other kids very often, but she still does so well with them. She's so quick to laugh and giggle. Shawn and Rhiannon loved holding Clay and playing with Elizabeth. Elizabeth was giving hugs and kisses and talking to everyone. I'm happy to say that she's doing a lot better with men too. She use to cry whenever she was around a guy that wasn't James but she did great this weekend.
We're glad that they were able to come out and see Clay before he gets too big and independant. We had fun spending the weekend with family. And I enjoyed having adults around while James was at work.

2 Months Old and his Ear, Nose and Throat visit

Clay had his 2 month well child checkup on February 5. Clay has definately gained some weight but he's still tiny. I haven't had to dress him in any newborn cloths for over a week though so he's finally grown out of them completely. Which is awesome because he spits up a lot so he gets changed a few times a day normally. So it's nice to have a selection of cloths I can go to instead of only having 10 things he fits into. Our doctor said he looks great and even though he's smaller he expects him to keep growing more and more. I couldn't believe he was 10 pounds. But then again he is becoming a little pig. He got an oral vaccination and 5 shots. James was holding him for the shots and as soon as they stuck him with the first one he arched his back and was almost sitting up himself. He wasn't happy, but I don't blame him.

On the 7th I had to take Clay back up to the University of Utah hospital for his appointment with the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. All the woman at the office thought he was adorable! He was a very good boy for the appointment too. The doctor seems very nice. Clay does have a good amount of fluid built up in his ears, so he gets to have tubes put in. The earliest they had was March 24. The doctor told me that since there was fluid his hearing would more than likely improve after the tubes are in as long as it's only fluid in the ear. So that's what's going on with that. Now we just have to wait until the 24.
As you can see from the pictures Clay is also smiling now. He likes when we make funny faces at him and if we tickle his bottom lip he smiles and laughs. I can't believe he's already 2 months old.

Clay's Baby Blessing

Man the weather was not on our side this weekend!! I mean we didn't get much snow where we are, but the benches and mountains got a ton of it. So did Elko and South Lake Tahoe. So originally James' family from Tahoe and my parents were going to come out. Well Thursday night James' family told us they wouldn't be coming out because of the weather. Then Saturday my parents called to tell me they wouldn't be either. And James and I were both fine with that because we wanted them all to stay safe rather than try to get out here and something happen. So we didn't have a huge turnout for the baby blessing, but it was still nice. All of you who weren't able to come because of the weather we missed you! Clayton was in the same outfit James was blessed in. So the next kid we have will get a new outfit for their blessing since we don't have another to pass down (that won't be happening for about 2 years at least!). I was going to make Clayton booties to wear with his outfit, but I gave that up after a lot of hours of trying and not being able to concentrate. Oh well. James gave Clayton a nice blessing and it was nice to see family and show off Clayton to those of them that hadn't seen him yet.

Elizabeth was so excited to see her cousins. And she made some new friends. She kept playing with James' cousin and huging him and stuff like that. And she was giving out lots of kisses too. I'm glad she's getting over being scared of men. Clayton has his 2 month check-up this week along with his Ear Nose and Throat appointment too. So I'm sure I'll have plenty of things to update everyone on this week. And he's finally out of newborn cloths offically. I can pack them away until we need them again. I hope he's in the 0 to 3 month cloths for a while. I'd be very upset if he grows out of them fast.

The Many Looks of Elizabeth

So I really got sick of Elizabeth's hair being in her face all the time. But I really don't want to cut it. So I decided to try and do her hair. Well it came out cute, but she kept trying to pull it out, so it didn't last long. I decided I probably won't try to pull her hair up again for awhile. Mostly because she doesn't like sitting still while I'm messing with her hair. So I decided we would try headbands again. So I've been working on making some.
She has discovered hats too. She signs hat all the time whenever she sees them. Well I found a hat we bought her at the beginning of November and put it on her head and she loved it! She thought it was cool and kept pulling it off and putting it back on. So now her new thing is to go find James hats and put them on too. It's really cute.

Clay's Hearing Test

Well Thursday I took Clay to the Audiologist for his hearing screening. She did an Auditory Brainstem Response test. So Clay got little electrods (I think that's what they are call) placed behind both ears and one of the forehead. Then he had little headphones put in his ears that had clicking sounds, and the computer measures the reponse to the sound. Turns out that according to the test that Clay has severe hearing loss in one ear and moderate hearing loss in the other. So pretty much I can guarantee that Clay can hear loud noises, but not sure if he hears anything softer than that. So my next step is to take Clay to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist to see if fluid is built up in the ear or if there is an infection. If there is there is a chance his hearing loss isn't as bad as it is showing right now. Either way I'll be taking Clay back to the audiologist for more detailed tests after the EN&T doctor. So I have an appointment with him on Thursday. Hopefully things will get better.

Eating With Fork

Well Elizabeth got a dish set for Christmas, so I've been giving her the fork and spoon every once in a while to help introduce them to her. She's doing pretty good with them and actually figured out how to use them. It's pretty funny because sometimes she'll just take the food off the fork to put in her mouth. But sometimes she actually tries to do it the right way.
