The Saturday before Halloween our ward put on a little trunk or treat for the kids. The kids were so excited about it too. I had been in Twin Falls for a temple trip during the day so I got home, rushed over to my parent's house to meet James and the kids and get them all dressed up. This year Clay and Elizabeth picked out their own costumes. Elizabeth originally wanted to be a butterfly, but I didn't think to buy antennas, so we went on a mad dash the Friday before Halloween to see what we could fine. At least what we found was 75% off already. We found a wand that matched her wings and tutu and a crown. So she ended up being a fairy princess butterfly! Analyn was a pirate princess. Just like last year we got a lot of compliments on her costume. It was pretty adorable though, and she played the part up by saying "ARR" to everyone she could.
Clay wasn't feeling very cooperative for pictures at all. He had a hard time picking out a costume. He would constantly change his mind. Yes, I know that is normal for a child his age, but he does it WAY more than most kids too.
The kids had a blast at the trunk or treat. They kept it more simple, which was great. Clay got really overwhelmed after a while though and sat in the car to give out candy with Grandma.
On Halloween day Clay and Lizzie got to go to school in their costumes. Clay was especially excited because he got to take a treat to pass out to his friends at school. I made him ghost suckers and showed him a picture on the Internet what they would look like and he told me to make him an army of ghost suckers. They were really cute and he came home with lots of goodies. We attempted to take naps that day but no one would do it. So we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's for dinner and then more trick or treating. It was warm that day so the kids enjoyed the afternoon outside.
Getting costumes back on was a challenge for Clay. He had a huge meltdown because he wanted to be a robot (that was one of the other choices he kept jumping around to). Then he was really interested in the kids coming to the door while we were getting a picture really quick.
After we left the house the night kind of went down hill from there. Grandpa took the kids around the street by their house on his golf cart. They all thought that was awesome. Clay had a lot of meltdowns and telling us he wanted to go home and trying to sneak a lot of candy. This was Analyn's first Halloween were she kind of knew what was going on and she was so excited. But the kids all had to fight over who knocked on the door so we had to take turns and they would always cut in front of Analyn when it was her turn. It was a really long 2 hours of walking around. The kids did have fun between fits, crying, and just being difficult though. All I can say is that I am glad that it's only once a year. At least they all looked cute.
